“Going to a Ruby gig is the closest most of us will come to milking a snake”

--- David Bennun

Lesley likes gadgets. Live, she uses a unique selection of electronic and more traditional instruments including Launchpad, guitar, iPhone, vocal Fx and miniature, hand-made synthesizer. Her main instrument, however, is her voice.

Ruby played live in the US and Europe, touring extensively throughout the 90’s and early 00’s, including Lollapalooza and most major festivals, and appeared on TV shows such as Jools Holland, Much music and MTV.

.In 2014/15 she played select, intimate shows around the UK joined by her brother, Scott Firth, the bass player in PIL. They headlined 'Deep Winter', an audiovisual show in Berlin, hosted by filmmaker/videographer, Ceven Knowles, with whom Lesley has collaborated regularly, most notably providing the soundtrack to Knowles' acclaimed art-erotica short, 'Panopticon'.

In 2016, she completed a short UK tour, supported by fellow Scot, and female electronic artist, Fiona Soe Paing and an extensive US solo tour as well as performing in Pigface for their 25th anniversary show in Chicago.

Since then she has performed at SXSW, Coldwaves festival and toured with Pigface in the US and Canada. 2020's Pigface US tour was cancelled because of covid but Lesley and her porky cohorts hope to reschedule for 2021.
